  • Private & exclusive use of our sailing/power vessels, at a fraction of the cost of owning and maintaining your own boat.
  • If you are an experienced boater/sailor, or want to learn how to skipper a sailboat or power cruiser, the WLSA offers the best opportunity to go cruising for up to a week with family and friends, or just get on the water for a day.
  • Our boats are outfitted with reliable diesel motors, roller furling, cabin heat, wheel steering, dodgers, self-tailing winches, enclosed heads, dinghies, and more.
  • Excellent boat availability as memberships are capped (see details below).

The Warm Land Sailing Association is a not-for-profit, member-funded society (S0069528) registered in the Province of British Columbia. Our goal is to promote sailing and cruising by making it fun and affordable while avoiding the high costs associated with purchasing, maintaining, and mooring your own boat.

There is a one-time cost for membership. Membership fees are used to purchase and refit vessels. Individual memberships can be sold by, or on behalf of, a member leaving the club. Monthly fees are used to cover moorage, insurance, plus annual maintenance and repair items. Fees are set by the members at our Annual General Meeting.

The WLSA has two divisions:

Sailing Division:

The WLSA Sailing Division owns two sailing sloops; Kitkatla (31ft Hunter) and Blue Belle (30ft C&C). Membership is capped at 20. The cost for a membership is currently set at $4000. The current monthly fee is $125.

Power Division:

The Power Division owns a power cruiser – Grand Adventure (36ft Grand Mariner). Membership is capped at 12. The cost for a membership is currently set at $7000. The current monthly fee is $150.

While sailing/cruising experience is not a pre-requisite for membership, we encourage all members to become “club-qualified” skippers. To this end, we will help you become very familiar with operating our boats.

Before taking a boat out on your own, you will need to demonstrate your ability to skipper a boat safely. You will also need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, Canadian Power Squadron Boating 2 and 3 (available online), plus a Radio Operator’s License (Restricted Operator’s Certificate (Maritime).

Vessels can be reserved for private use by members who meet WLSA requirements for boating/sailing knowledge and experience.
